Training (Continuous Professional Development) Experience
I previously worked as a Student Counsellor at BIMM University, an Honorary Student Counsellor at Sussex University, under the NHS as a BAME Counsellor at Brighton YMCA and a BAME Counsellor at the Young People's Centre (YPC). I have quite a varied work experience background, which includes: a Connexions Careers Adviser working in Secondary schools, sixth form colleges and within the community with young people aged 15 to 19 (up to age 25 for young people with Special Educational Needs and disabilities). A Careers Adviser working with adults of all ages within the community and a Learning and Participation Adviser, and a Volunteer Coordinator.
I am a registered member of BAATN (The Black African and Asian Therapy Network),
The Complimentary Medical Association (CMA ) and the International Sound Healing Academy.
I am also a qualified and registered (Accredited) member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Therefore, I adhere to its ethical framework for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy. I am registered on the BACP's register of counsellors and psychotherapists.
I am trauma infomred and a EMDR Therapist, therefore I am experienced at working with trauma. I completed the required EMDR training Part 1, 2 and 3 Adults and Parts 1 and 2 Child and Adolescent, which qualifies me to use this approach with Adults, Adolescence and children. I am a Member of EMDR Association UK & Ireland and attend regular EMDR supervision with a highly experienced accredited EMDR Clinical Supervisor/Consultant
and Practitioner.
